The 19 best hotels in Catania
Catania was the third stop on my Sicily trip, after Messina and Taormina. I actually flew into Catania first, so it was really important that I came back. I last visited here last year, and what I love about Catania is that it has a lot of history. It has been around since 729 BC, and the main thing that drew me there was the architecture. So when I was looking for the best hotels in Catania to stay at, there was really a lot to take into consideration.

How we select the best hotels in Catania
We spoke to a lot of our family, who were scattered around Italy, with many from down south. We asked about hotels in Catania, Sicily that were near the cathedral, in the city, on the beaches, and in other areas. We also wanted to see how good the reviews were, and look for really good service, nice decor, and lots of amenities. We also liked those hotels in Catania that had a historic feel, because that is why we came to this town in the first place. But mixed with modern luxury, even better.
We also wanted to find out about the best 5-star hotels in Catania, Sicily, and some of these have amazing views of the ocean but also of Mount Etna. I have put a map of the best hotels in Catania below for a guide.

Luxury Hotels in Catania Sicily
Catania was towards the end of my trip, so we just wanted to relax. We were looking for luxury hotels with lots of space, well-furnished rooms, and plenty of amenities. Here are my recommendations for some of the best luxury hotels in Catania.
Romano Palace Luxury Hotel
This is one of the best 5 star hotels in Catania, Sicily. It has been around since 2004, and it is actually by the beach. If you do not feel like going to the beach, they also have a really large swimming pool with sun loungers.
Amenities include a gym and a dry cleaning service, which was great for us because we spent a few weeks in Sicily. The rooms are just incredible. They have gemstone bathrooms and you can see how spacious they are. They are also very modern.
To get into town, it is about 2.5 kilometres, so you will probably need a taxi or a car.
