The best hotels in Taormina Sicily

The San Domenico Palace

Number one has got to be the San Domenico Palace. This is an actual 14th-century palace that's been renovated and is now one of the best hotels in Taormina with a view. The hotel has amazing amenities, such as the pool that you can see in the picture.

And just look at that view. You get the whole of Taormina to the east. You've got Mount Etna over there as well. They even have a Michelin restaurant in their hotel.

In terms of the rooms, everything that you would expect from a Four Seasons hotel. They've got quite a few different rooms and they all have marble inside. But if you can put a bit of money aside, I would recommend the sea view premium room.

It has a little balcony where you can sit outside and just take in the ocean from your room. The bedding is just super lush.

Grand Hotel Timeo

Next up is the Grand Hotel Timeo. This is about a one minute walk away from the historic Greek amphitheatre. And again, it's got just absolutely amazing views of the whole of Taormina.

On top of that, another Michelin style restaurant called Otto Geleng. In terms of amenities, everything that you need: a spa and a heated swimming pool. Sometimes you don't want to be in a cold swimming pool. I love having a heated pool.

It also has really nice gardens. When I was there, I actually saw some weddings being hosted there, which looked very, very nice. They also have their own private beach area just on the right hand side of their Isola Bella. And they have a complementary shuttle if you don't want to walk down.

In terms of the rooms, they have double rooms with really nice views and a Juliet balcony. And again, the bedding is just super premium. This is one of the top hotels in Taormina.

Palazzo Vecchio Taormina

Next up is a hidden gem that I found in Taormina, from speaking to my family. And that's the Palazzo Vecchio in Taormina. This is a five-star luxury hotel in Taormina, and the reason why it's a hidden gem is that it only has 12 rooms.

So this is often really booked out. You're going to have to book it about a year in advance, at least, for this hotel.

In terms of amenities, they have an on site spa that you can go to and you can book in massages and treatments.

What's really unique is they have a rooftop bar, which is fantastic for an aperitivo with blue sky views. Do note, it's only open from May to October, last time I checked.

But I love this place as it's a palace that's been around for over 600 years. In terms of the rooms, ocean views, luxury premium bedding. And I would say it's a little bit more traditional than some of the super modern ones.

Metropole Maison D'Hotes

Next stop is the Metropole Maison d'Hotes. This is another five star hotel in Taormina. And what I like about this one is it's right in the centre of town.

However, there's nothing in front of it blocking its view. So if you look at my picture, that's the infinity pool and it's just amazing views of the ocean. So it's a real luxury hotel in Taormina option.

In terms of the rooms, very modern. Most of the rooms have that ocean view as well. But I prefer to go down to the pool area. I'd say this is the best hotel in Taormina for the view because it's just completely unobstructed.

Ashbee Hotel

And that takes me to the Ashbee Hotel. This is one of the best boutique hotels in Taormina. It's a five-star hotel, and it actually made it into the leading hotels of the world.

If you see the picture, very, very colourful, very Sicilian, but also super modern. Again, they have an infinity pool that overlooks the ocean.

Other amenities such as a fully equipped gym, which has a really good view, which I always look for when I'm choosing hotels in Taormina. And another Michelin restaurant in Taormina called St George.

In terms of the location, it's actually in a quieter area of Taormina, just outside the Porta Messina. So it's very, very quiet around there.

In terms of the rooms at the Ashbee Hotel, the rooms are very modern, very light inside. A few of them have garden views as well, which is quite nice. I would probably recommend the superior room if you can. That's a very cost-effective room that's really nice for staying at a five-star hotel in Taormina.

NH Collection Taormina

Then you have the NH Collection Taormina and I really love this hotel. You can see from the photo just how modern it is, how warm it is. It's right next to the shopping street in Taormina, Corso Umberto. And I'll talk more about this on my Taormina travel guide if you want to have a read.

They have a very nice pool that looks over to the ocean, but I really like their terrace that you can relax at. So I'll definitely go over there if you stay at this hotel. The rooms are super comfortable and most rooms look out to the ocean. It's just a very nice five star boutique hotel in Taormina.

Villa Sant'Andrea

Next up, you've got Villa Sant'Andrea, and this is one of the best boutique hotels in Taormina, Sicily. It's a five-star and it opened up in the 1950s.

It's actually on the left hand side by the Mazzaro Beach, so a little bit further away from the actual town. But absolute luxury if you just want to relax.

Villa Sant' Andrea also has its own private beach area. Other amenities such as a wellness spa.

And something that's a little bit unique, which I love about this hotel, is they sometimes host a cinema on the beach. So you can, especially during summer, have a glass of champagne, just relax on a sun lounger and watch a film. Also really great for kids.

In terms of the rooms, just absolute luxury. I love those columns in there. Bedding, really, really premium. You can see in the pictures the views are great!

Mazzaro Sea Palace

First of all, you've got Mazzaro Sea Palace. The reason I picked this one is it's actually right on the beach of Mazzaro. So you can bring the kids to the beach. But they also have their own pool as well, so if you don't want to get pebbly or sandy, you can still relax at the pool. They also have a restaurant which has amazing views of the ocean.

In terms of rooms and other services, they have babysitting services, so a real plus for this hotel. The rooms themselves have a private balcony and an ocean view. And they are all soundproofed. So that really helps, especially if you're a light sleeper or the kids are sleeping. It's one of the best hotels in Taormina for families.

La Plage Resort

Next up is La Plage Resort. And I've stayed here myself. This is one of the best five star hotels in Taormina and a little bit less expensive than some of the other five star hotels. It's right next to Isola Bella Beach. So if you look at that picture, you're literally on the beach itself and I've seen weddings that have happened around here when I was staying there.

The perks are that they also have their own private beach. So if you see those umbrellas, they have their own bar. So that'll save you money instead of having to rent a chair, and you just go swimming there. They don't have their own pool, and I think it's because they're right on the beach itself. For families, they have babysitting services that you can request, and the staff are super, super friendly.

In terms of the rooms, they have deluxe rooms and they have bungalow rooms. I've stayed in both myself. I'd probably recommend the bungalow rooms. It's a little bit further away from everywhere else and I like that.

And then the breakfast is absolutely fantastic. On a summer's day, you get to sit outside, and it's just so quiet, especially in the morning. You just had a really nice breakfast. I had so many pistachio croissants when I stayed there. It's probably one of my favourite top hotels in Taormina overall.

Atlantis Bay - VRetreats

Next up is Atlantis Bay VRetreats. And what's unique about this hotel is that it's actually built on a rock. It's on the left around the Mazzaro Beach area. It's also a five-star hotel. So you can either go to the beach or, from my picture of the pool, the pool is just fantastic. Both areas, the beach and the pool, offer really nice views of the coastline.

In terms of rooms, every room is luxury and they also have family-sized rooms and larger rooms to choose from. The standout comment is also from the staff. Staff are super friendly and can help you with things to do in Taormina. And they also have babysitting services.

Taormina Palace Hotel

I'll start off with the Taormina Palace Hotel and this is actually a four star hotel. You can see in the picture the rooms are super large, modern and you've got that beautiful ocean view.

So one of the best hotels in Taormina that's a little bit more low cost. They also have a lot of amenities such as a wellness bar, a jacuzzi, a tea room and a rooftop bar. I just love going to rooftop bars, especially in this town. And also a hair salon if you want to get your hair done before you go out.

In terms of the location, it's very close to the Ashbee Hotel, so down that quieter street that I was talking about. And also very close to the cable car that takes you down to Isola Bella. So, a very convenient location, the Taormina Palace Hotel.

Hotel Ipanema

Another one that's very well priced is Hotel Ipanema. This is a four-star hotel in Taormina that's very close to Mazzaro Beach. It's set a little bit higher, and I've got a picture here of the views from the rooftop terrace, where you can sunbathe and really take in the views of Taormina. It's also very quiet there as well.

In terms of amenities, they do have their own pool, or they do have a free shuttle down to a private beach area on Mazzaro. In terms of the rooms, a little bit more traditional in style, but a lot of them have balconies that have been recently refurnished.

They have everything you need, such as air conditioning. So one of the top hotels in Taormina, Sicily, that's more locally priced.

Hotel Sirius

Another cheap hotel in Taormina that one of my friends stayed at was Hotel Sirius. This is a very affordable hotel in Taormina. It's four stars but it's just so well rounded. They have really nice ocean views and it's very close to the cable car.

The rooms look a little bit more to the west when it comes to the ocean views. You can see outside on the balcony, it looks to the west of Taormina. The rooms are a little bit more traditional, but give you everything that you need.

If you don't want to walk down, they do have a free shuttle to the beach. Or there's a pool and the pool is quite large. My friends went to the pool almost every single day. And what I really like is they also have a restaurant.

The town is only about a 10-minute walk away from Hotel Sirius. They do have a panoramic restaurant, and dinner is served on the terrace, especially in summer. It's just so nice. It's a really good hotel in Taormina and more affordable.
