The 15 best hotels in Trapani Sicily

Trapani was one of my last stops on my trip around Sicily. Before arriving, I had visited Agrigento. Trapani sits on the beautiful west coast of the island. Before I started my trip, I researched all the best hotels in Trapani so hopefully you'll be able to find the perfect place for you.

How we select the best hotels in Trapani Sicily

It all started when I spoke to my family when trying to find hotels in Trapani. My family are Italian, so I think recommendations are always the best way. They pointed us towards local hotels, but also knew of some of the luxury hotels in Trapani, Sicily. So we had a look at those.

We looked for hotels with a great location, like those in the historical centre near the cathedral. Also, those in the quieter areas around the promenade. We also looked at guest reviews, the rooms, whether they were stylish, had really good service, and other amenities.

We also liked those with a lot of Arabic influence. Trapani has a lot of history and architecture that has been modernised with a luxury appeal. We also looked at amenities like rooftop terraces with ocean views. So here are my recommendations for hotels in Trapani.

Luxury hotels in Trapani Sicily

This is what I looked at first. We were looking for luxury hotels in Trapani with lots of amenities, maybe marble bathrooms, and hotels that might have great technology. Here are my recommendations for luxury hotels in Trapani, Sicily.

Baglio Oneto dei Principi di San Lorenzo

I'll start off with Baglio Oneto dei Principi di San Lorenzo. This is actually one of the few 5-star hotels in Trapani. It sits a little to the south in the town of Marsala. So it's great for exploring around there.

It is massive, and you can really see this in the pictures with the grounds. It has a 35,000 square metre park and also a huge swimming pool that I really liked. It is right next to a winery, so you can have a Sicilian tasting on site.

In terms of the rooms, they have 49 rooms ranging from really large doubles to junior suites. So there will be a room for everyone. It is a very traditional-looking room but with really comfortable beds. I love the greens and the blues and the colourfulness within the rooms themselves. If you want to splurge, there is a junior suite that looks out onto the vineyard. A really nice room.

Other amenities include an infinity pool with ocean views. They also have a really nice lounge bar which overlooks the Egadi Islands. And they also have an outdoor fitness area with a really nice view. This is one of the best hotels in Trapani for those wanting a real luxury experience.

Baglio Sorìa Resort

Next up is the Baglio Sorìa Resort. This is a 17th-century estate that is a little more modern but still has that classic Sicilian style. It is a 4-star hotel in Trapani. Again, it is in a winery, so they have a heap of wine experiences on site.

In terms of the rooms, it is what you would expect from a luxury hotel in Trapani. Everything is super modern. My advice is to start with a classic room. You get a 4-poster bed, which is just really nice.

In terms of amenities, they have a really nice pool and you can see that in the pictures. Lovely on a summer's day. Because it is a little further away from the Trapani city centre, they also have a restaurant and a sky lounge where you can enjoy a cocktail or a wine that they make on site.

Hotel Vittoria

Next up is Hotel Vittoria. This is one of the best hotels in Trapani by the beach. It is very close to the Spiaggia Piazza Vittoria Emanuele.

I think the standout here is the service. It has actually been owned by the same family for 5 generations. They have quite a few rooms, everything is well furnished and very well lit. One little extra is that they have an elevator, which is a very rare feature in Italy.

They have also partnered with a private beach where you can get umbrellas and sunbeds. I like this because sometimes when you are visiting beaches around Sicily, some vendors can mark up prices. So it is good to have an official relationship there.

Boutique hotels in Trapani

I would probably say these fall into the luxury category as well, but what I love about boutique hotels is they are usually a bit smaller with fewer rooms, and they usually come with really, really good service. Here are my top picks for hotels in Trapani in the boutique category.

BADIA NUOVA Apart Hotel

The first one, and I have actually stayed in this one, is the BADIA NUOVA Apart Hotel. This is one of the best hotels in Trapani that is boutique.

From the picture, you can see this was my highlight. That rooftop terrace had brilliant views of the ocean and all the surroundings of the city.

The hotel only has 36 rooms and most were sold out when I was booking. But the rooms are very, very modern and the beds are very comfortable. I would recommend getting the room with a terrace, or the studio with a balcony if it is just you or a couple.

A lot of the rooms also have a kitchen. So make sure to check that when booking, because it could save you some money instead of eating out all the time. Worth checking out the things to do in Trapani nearby, too.

Palazzo Gatto Art Hotel

Next up, and this is a super, super modern hotel, is the Palazzo Gatto Art Hotel. This is one of the best 4-star hotels in Trapani. In terms of amenities, it has a Jacuzzi, a solarium, and a rooftop terrace. I think the actual standout is the spa, where you can get all kinds of treatments at this Trapani hotel.

Moving on to the rooms, they are super modern and very, very comfortable as well. The flooring is tile so it keeps cool during summer, but they also have air conditioning. This is one of my favourite hotels in Trapani.

Trapani Hotel In

If you are looking for something a little more traditional, you have got the Trapani Hotel In. This is right next to the Trapani port, so very convenient if you are popping over to the Egadi Islands as I did.

I only stayed here for one night on one of my trips. The rooms have been renovated, are modern, and can appeal to lots of people. You can get single rooms, double rooms, and even triples. They come with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.

Apart from the great location and really good service, the staff can also help with booking things to do in Trapani. A great hotel in the centre.

Best hotels in Trapani Sicily with family

Now I want to get onto some of the hotels in Trapani that are great for families. Sometimes you forget about the little things like babysitting services, cribs, parking, or lots of amenities for children. So I thought I would put together a little roundup about these.

Grand Hotel Palace

I will start off with the Grand Hotel Palace. This is in the town of Marsala and is probably one of the best hotels in Trapani when staying with a family.

For the family, they have babysitting services and also an outdoor pool with a little children's pool. They have loungers, umbrellas, and a poolside bar so you can order snacks and relax.

In terms of the rooms, there are lots to choose from. It is a nice traditional style with carpet flooring, which is a bit better for children. The beds are really, really comfortable and you get air conditioning and a safe if you want to leave your valuables.

Close by is the Cantine Florio winery & Donnafugata Winery, both of which are under a 5-minute walk away.

Relais Antiche Saline

Next up is Relais Antiche Saline. This is a little bit closer to the centre of Trapani and is actually near the salt pans of Trapani. So really good views.

The hotel only has 18 rooms so it gets booked out quite quickly. They have a really big swimming pool, and from the picture you can see it is actually huge and great on a summer's day.

You can park there for free, which is a real plus as well. If you want to do other things, you can visit the Museum of Salt which is just over the road, or head over to the salt pans.

Baia dei Mulini Resort & Spa

Next up is the Baia dei Mulini Resort & Spa. This is in the Casa Santa area of Trapani and is a 4 star resort. From the picture you can see a huge pool right next to the beach, so really good for the children.

They also have their own private beach area. On top of that, if you have older family with you, you can also use their tennis courts, which is really convenient.

If you do not feel like going out, Casa Santa is a great area for restaurants in Trapani, but they also have a couple of their own restaurants if you would rather stay on site. You can bring your family for lunch or dinner.

In terms of the rooms, they go all the way up to quadruple rooms, so really good for groups of friends or families. I would personally pick a room with an ocean view because you are in Trapani. Why not? Big beds with a more traditional style. One of the best hotels in Trapani for families.

Hotel Carmine

Next up is Hotel Carmine, and this takes us back to the town of Marsala. It is a little lower in cost, which is always great, especially if you are travelling around Sicily with a family.

It is a little more traditional, and the hotel actually dates back to the 1600s. It took 8 years to restore and is set in a 17th-century building. It looks very nice and traditional.

They have their own spa, and if you go in winter, they have this awesome bar with a huge fireplace. I love finding a hotel in Trapani with a fireplace during the winter.

In terms of the rooms, they are a little more traditional but very comfortable inside and great for the family. If you want to go out, the Cantina Pellegrino winery is about a 15-minute walk away. Worth a visit.

Cheap hotels in Trapani Sicily

Now I want to get onto more hotels in Trapani in terms of value. It is always good to write about some of the cheap hotels in Trapani if you are looking to save a little bit. I will call out if they have any free breakfast. What I was looking for was all the basic amenities like Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, and private bathrooms. If you want tips on how to save money on your trip more broadly, I have a guide on how to save money on a trip that might help.

Venere di Erice Resort

I will start off with the Venere di Erice Resort. This is very close to the Macari and San Vito Lo Capo area in Trapani. Because it is a little further away, you do save a bit of money, but this is a brilliant 4-star hotel in Trapani.

I think the highlights, apart from the price, have to be that pool. Fantastic. Those views are just amazing. They also have a spa with a heated whirlpool, a sauna, a steam room, and colour therapy showers.

In terms of the rooms, they are super modern. I would pick the ones with the sea views because waking up to that is just amazing. Even the mountain views look good. This is probably one of the best hotels in Trapani, Sicily and also the most relaxing. You can really treat yourself here, and it is great value.

Hotel Tiziano

Next up, if you want to be in the centre of town and are looking for a cheap hotel in Trapani, you have got Hotel Tiziano. This is a small hotel in the centre and very traditional.

It is a 4-star but also a really good value. The rooms are very traditional with those classic browns and yellows that give it that classic Sicilian style.

In terms of amenities, they have access to an Olympic-sized swimming pool, which is great. They also have free parking, so you avoid having to pay for parking. A really good all-rounder hotel in Trapani.

Another great value hotel is the Best Western Hotel Stella d'Italia. This is a 4-star hotel in Trapani in the town of Marsala. It was actually built in 1873.

The rooms face the town's cathedral and also the main square. Prices are good, and the rooms come with air conditioning, safes, and Wi-Fi, everything that you need.

The service is good as well and is available 24 hours a day. A solid option among the best hotels in Trapani, Sicily, for those watching their budget.

The hotel is also very well located, with the cathedral of San Lorenzo just a short walk away. Quite a few nice amenities here too, such as internet access and a really nice aperitivo. Last time I checked it was only €10 per person.

They can also give you a pre-ordered packed lunch for €5 per person. So you can head to the best beaches in Sicily, all ready to go.
