Okay, so now I am gonna talk to you about Verona. And I have actually been to Verona twice now, once with friends, and then another time with the family. So I have got a good idea of the best luxury hotels in Verona from some different perspectives. And the reason I actually came here is that there is just so much architecture and history.

It is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site. You would not think to go there because it is a little bit out of the way. But for those who know, it is an amazing experience, and you can find some of the best luxury hotels in Verona, but also in the world, in this town.

I took this picture below from a viewpoint over the river, on a lovely summer day, from my last trip. It really is an incredible town to go to. Shakespeare actually made it famous with his Romeo and Juliet, which is set in the streets of Verona. So, there is so many things to do in Verona. So I highly recommend you go there, but let us get back to some of the best hotels in Verona.

How we choose luxury hotels in Verona?

So I will start off with how we actually chose the best luxury hotels in Verona. So 1st of all, our family actually live in Italy, and they have been to quite a few weddings in Verona. So they stayed at some amazing places. So they gave us a lot of recommendations on where the locals go, if you want to stay in the luxury hotels in Verona, where they are, how close they were to the Arena di Verona or Juliet's House, but also, the shopping areas. That was pretty important as well.

When we were looking more into these, we were looking at the amenities. Did they have a pool? Were they old buildings that might have been modernised, such as old palaces? Did they have a spa? Was the service good? And then we also looked at other guest reviews on top of staying at some of the best hotels in Verona. So we had firsthand experience.

What are the best areas to stay in Verona?

So I will probably start off with one of the best areas to stay in Verona. And I will go into this in a little bit more detail, but the picture above is actually the entrance at the Portoni della Brà. So most of, most of the luxury hotels are beyond this point. And we actually took a train. So we walked from the train down and then through this area. So this is probably the start.

Historic Centre (Centro Storico)

So we will talk about the Centro Storico area 1st. And this is right in the centre. So through that gateway. And this is where you are going to be close to the arena, you cross to Juliet's house, and you are also very close to the luxury shopping strip. So great place to stay if you want to be close to everything, also all the restaurants. It would say its where most of the luxury hotels in Verona are.

Borgo Trento

Now, just north of the city is the area of Borgo Trento. And this is a lot more residential. So, it is a little bit quieter. You also find the restaurants are a little bit more traditional, and lower cost as well. Some of the best hotels in Verona are a little bit larger in this area as well. But it is still very close to the centre, where all the other things are. There are a couple of roads that you can walk across the river.

Veronetta

If you want to stay in a bit of a more hip area, to the east of the city, across the river, is the area of Veronetta. And that is actually where I took the picture of the whole of the city that you can see right at the top of my blog. So this is very known for its multicultural vibe.

You also get a lot of younger people, you have got the use in the University of Verona around here as well. But here, it is a little bit more relaxed. There are a lot of cafes and bars. So, really good if you are looking to experience a lot of culture, staying there is a great idea.

But I would say my recommendation would probably be staying in the centre. It is a lot close to the station, and we just walked. We did not even have to get a taxi. You are close to all the main areas and things to do in Verona. And most of the luxury hotels of Verona are situated in the historic centre.

Our top luxury hotels in Verona recommendations

1. Hotel Gabbia d'Oro

So now I will go on to my 1st recommendation, and that is the Hotel Gabbia D'Oro. What I love about this, it is one of the best 5 star hotels in Verona city centre. It actually comes from an 18th-century building. So you got a lot of wooden ceilings, outdoor frescos, and antique paintings.

The hotel is really well located. It is about a 3-minute walk from Juliet's house or an 8-minute walk from the arena. It is also very family-friendly. So they have 24-hour room service and babysitting services. They also have a living area, a really nice garden that you can take a look at, and a really funky bar. Like, it has got the wooden ceilings in there and just really makes you feel at home, this hotel.

In terms of the rooms as well, they have singles going up to suites. And the rooms are very well decorated inside, huge beds, which are really comfortable and a real Italian vibe to them.

And then, if you look, if you walk outside, you are right on the piazza della Erbe, which is the main plaza in Verona, and I have a picture below which leads up to it in Via Giuseppe Mazzini, where you can find all the luxury shops in this area.

2. Due Torri Hotel

Next up is the Due Torri hotel. This is actually part of the leading hotels of the world. This is one of the best 5 star hotels in Verona. And here, the interior has really exquisite details, like wooden floors, marble accents, these awesome chandeliers, and you can see the one in the room as well.

But what you are also going to get, it is just absolutely fantastic service. It is just to the east of the old town. So I would say it is a little bit quieter around the area, which is quite nice, and it does have an on-site spa where you can get treatments. There is also a gym and a bar.

In terms of the rooms, again, quite a traditional-looking hotel. But with really bright colours, but really comfortable. So you get like Venetian plaster, parquet flooring. And they all have some different views around town, and then for families, they do have connecting rooms. So the Due Torri Hotel is one of the best luxury hotels in Verona.

3. Vista Verona

The Vista Verona is one of my favourite luxury hotels in Verona, just east of the old town. It recently won the best luxury spa hotel and luxury design hotel in Verona, so its pretty good.

In terms of the rooms they are traditional but very modern inside. They are soundproofed and include a pillow menu, which I love as I always want more pillows in the room and want to select the best one, and the rooms have blackout curtains.

I think the real highlights are the pool. You can see in the picture it is very relaxing. You can't do full laps but you can swim breaststroke around and really relax there. They also have a spa which is what the hotel is known for where you can get a heap of treatments. Then it has a small gym.

I also love the rooftop bar at the Vista Verona. It has great views of the city, so definitely book here for an aperitivo before dinner. You can either go out to dinner, or they have a fine dining restaurant on-site.

The final touch was a parting gift, so all in all the Vista Verona is a fantastic 5-star hotel in Verona!

4. NH Collection Palazzo Verona

On the west of the old town is the NH Collection Palazzo Verona, a 5-star boutique hotel in Verona. This palace has been around since the 14th century and has an impressive 70 rooms. As soon as I stepped into the palace, you could still feel the original architecture however its been renovated into a luxury hotel.

In terms of the rooms, they go all the way up to suites, and I would recommend choosing a room with a balcony, as it reminds you of Juliet's balcony looking out to the rest of Verona. The rooms all have wooden floors, large comfortable beds and are very spacious. They also have a pillow menu.

In terms of services, they have babysitting, which is a great plus when traveling with a family and also bicycles. I wouldn't go into the town centre with the bikes as it's very busy during the summer, but more outside the CBD.

Palazzon Verona also has a nice restaurant on-site, where you can eat Italian but also international, like a club sandwich. The staff are also very welcoming and hospitable. You can't go wrong with the NH collection, especially this one in Verona.

5. The Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amista

Now onto the Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amista. And this is actually slightly outside the main town. Like you will have to get a car in. But it is absolutely incredible. It is a 16th-century villa in the area of Valpolicella. So, because it is outside of town, this is where you are going to get a lot of space. So it is quite a big hotel.

They have a really cool bar right next to the pool, and the pool is pretty big; you can do laps in there. So it is really for those who really want to have a relaxing spa holiday. The Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amista has an amazing spa, and I have got a picture above that you can see. You can get manicures, pedicures, and hydrotherapy.

They even have a Michelin restaurant called Ristorante Amista, so you do not have to go anywhere else. But if you do want to go into town, I would probably recommend doing at least 2 or 3 nights here and then going into Verona, into the city to do the touristy things. So, highly recommend taking more of a closer look.

6. Hotel San Marco Fitness Pool & SPA

Next up is the Hotel San Marco Fitness Pool & SPA and that is one of the best luxury hotels in Verona, but it is actually a four star hotel. It is just west of the city, close to the Porta Nuova, but also quite close to the train station. And what was interesting about this, it was actually once an ancient mansion that converted into a hotel.

It has a really big outdoor pool with lounges. They also have their Turkish and Roman baths, a thermarium and a Kneipp path that I love. I have done something similar at a hotel in Rome, it is a really great experience. And then they also have an indoor pool with a whirlpool, which is pretty cool. But you do have to be overrating.

In terms of the rooms at this luxury hotel in Verona, they have standard rooms, family rooms, and suites. And you can have up to 4 beds in the family rooms. The rooms are modern, come with a TV, wooden flooring, and are a great place to stay in Verona.

7. Hotel Firenze

Now I am going to get on to Hotel Firenze, and this is actually one of the best boutique hotels in Verona. And this is between the station and the city. So, it is a little bit quieter around here, so it is a great place to stay. It is about a 10-minute walk from the arena, just to put it into perspective.

What I love about this hotel, it is really a service that you would expect from a boutique hotel in Verona, like pillow menus, service, and air conditioning, and then the rooms are very nice inside. A lot of them have that plaster, and you get all the different types of colours. And then you get all the innovation in the actual rooms themselves, like the lighting, the blinds, the temperature.

So that is what I love about boutique hotels in Verona: the service, and then all the little thoughtful touches. And because it is 4-star, you are not paying the premium price of a 5-star.
