Accommodation in Trapani

When it comes to finding accommodation in Trapani, it really depends on a number of factors. Things like budget, preferences, whether you are travelling with family, and how long you are staying.

Hopefully, this accommodation in Trapani guide will help you find the best place for your requirements. We have actually been to Trapani twice so far.

We also have a lot of family all over Italy, so we have been able to lean on their recommendations. And because we speak Italian, we have been able to speak to the locals and get their thoughts too.

The best areas to stay in Trapani

I will start with the best areas to stay in Trapani. There are 3 distinct ones. Let me walk you through each one so you can figure out which suits you best.

Trapani city centre

This is where you want to stay if you want access to history and to be able to walk to all the most popular piazzas, the Trapani Cathedral, and the museums. It is also very close to the ferry.

So if you are only in Trapani for a few days but heading off to the Egadi Islands, you probably want to find accommodation in Trapani's city centre. It also has a very good nightlife with that historic city vibe and access to a lot of the best restaurants in Trapani.

Casa santa

Next, if you are looking for where to stay in Trapani, there is Casa Santa. This is the newer part of town, just to the east of the city centre. It is a little bit of a quieter, less touristy area. You will find local supermarkets and shops that are more geared towards residents. You will also usually find larger places to stay and more modern B&Bs.

Erice, the best area to stay for views and silence

And then lastly, there is Erice, which for some is probably one of the best areas to stay in Trapani. Erice sits right on top of Trapani, and it is a really, really small town. A lot of people go there during the day, but as soon as it hits about 5pm, it goes silent.

So if you are there with family or just looking for a relaxing holiday, this is a great option. You get that beautiful cobblestone old town and then the views. The views in Erice are honestly one of the best in Sicily. You can see the salt pans, the Egadi Islands, and sometimes even Mount Etna over by Catania. You can find out more about Erice in our things to do in Trapani guide.

Oceanside Accommodation in Trapani

Sometimes you just want to be near the beach. On one of my trips around Sicily, I stayed at pretty much all the beach towns and beach areas. I just wanted to be near the water. So here are some Trapani accommodations near the beach.

Hotel Vittoria

I will start off with Hotel Vittoria. This is right next to the Spiaggia Piazza Vittoria Emanuele. It is a 4-star place and what it is known for is service.

It has been owned by the same family for 5 generations. Because of its location near the beach, it has also partnered up with a private beach where you can get access to sun loungers at a reduced price.

It also gets a really nice sea breeze, and if you manage to get a room with a balcony, the rooms are really modern, as you can see in the pictures.

If you are bringing a car, there is public parking just a few metres away. And you are just outside the Trapani ZTL area, which you can read more about in our Trapani travel guide.

The Room of Andrea Hotel

Next up is the The Room of Andrea Hotel. This is a huge 4-star palace that was built in the 20th century. It is actually very close to Hotel Victoria, so you can also get access to the parking at Piazza Vittoria Emanuele.

It has a lot of amenities, though, such as a rooftop swimming pool and an on-site restaurant. In terms of location to the ocean, it is a 7-minute walk from Lido Paradiso or just a 13-minute walk away from Spiaggia delle Mura di Tramontana.

Baia dei Mulini Resort & Spa

Next, heading over to Casa Santa, there is the Baia dei Mulini Resort & Spa. This is actually set right on the Spiaggia di San Giuliano. It is a 4-star property, and it is great if you just want to be outside of the city centre in a quieter area.

The resort itself has an on-site restaurant, a swimming pool, and also tennis courts if you want to keep up with your fitness. It is still close to some of the attractions, such as the Agostino Pepoli Regional Museum and the Basilica Santuario di Maria Santissima Annunziata.

Accommodation in Trapani Centre

So if you are looking for where to stay close to all the landmarks, the restaurants, and the beaches right by the town, this section is for you. This really is the heart of where to stay in Trapani.

Palazzo Gatto Art Hotel

I will start off with one of my favourites, and that is the Palazzo Gatto Art Hotel. This is one of the best hotels in Trapani.

As you can see in the pictures, it is super modern. Some of the features include a jacuzzi and a solarium, but they also have an awesome rooftop where you can get amazing views of the city.

One thing to know is that because it sits within the ZTL area, you will have to park outside. But if you want to be right in the centre, this is literally right in the centre. The perfect accommodation in Trapani city centre.

Hotel Tiziano

Next up is Hotel Tiziano. This sits just outside the ZTL area and there is parking very close by.

It is a 4-star property and what I like about it is that it is very small. It only has 32 rooms last time I checked, and it is very peaceful. It did have free parking last time I checked as well.

Although it does not have all the amenities, there is actually an Olympic-size swimming pool just across the road. So you can either head to the beach or, if you do not want to get sandy, pop over to the pool. It is about six euros per session and it is very well maintained.

BADIA NUOVA Apart Hotel

Next up, and one that has a fantastic vibe, is the BADIA NUOVA Apart Hotel. This is a very small boutique place. As you can see in the pictures, it has this awesome rooftop lounge bar which is always buzzing.

It is in the ZTL area, so be aware if you are parking. But the rooms themselves give you access to a balcony or a private terrace, so you can really enjoy the atmosphere of staying in the city centre.

Bed & Breakfast in Trapani

Next up, if you are looking for cheap accommodation in Trapani, I would recommend bed and breakfasts. Not all of them are less expensive though; there are quite a lot of luxury B&Bs in Trapani as well. But what I really like about them is that the service is usually fantastic and they are usually family-run. If you are trying to save money on your trip, B&Bs are a great way to do it.

Kantuné bed and breakfast

My first recommendation for B&B Trapani accommodation is the Kantuné bed and breakfast. This is a lovely traditional Sicilian B&B. You are not going to get all the luxuries, but it is excellent value and set right in the city centre.

For breakfast, they have a balcony area outside where you can start the day enjoying being in the historic centre of the city.

The owners, Salvatoria and Maria, are really nice and can help you with popular places to go. They can also help you access bike rentals if you want to pop around the city.

Al Bastione Imperiale

Next up is Al Bastione Imperiale. This place is very small and right in the centre of town near the ocean. The rooms either have sea or harbour views.

They also have a lot of complimentary perks such as free parking and free bike rentals, which is a real great plus. The rooms are really nice with air conditioning and a safe for your valuables. It is a great Trapani accommodation option and very close to the port.

Casalicchio B&B

Next up is Casalicchio B&B. This is a 3-star property in a renovated 17th-century Sicilian building. They have traditional rooms, as you can see in the picture.

This is on the lower side of price when it comes to Trapani accommodation, but it has all the amenities you need, such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and safes.

Family-Friendly Trapani Accommodation

This is usually a bit more of a difficult task, especially if you are travelling with larger families. There are some things you need to keep in mind, such as whether the place is close to restaurants or has one on site, whether it is close to the beach, and what amenities it has. But here are my recommendations for accommodation in Trapani with a family.

Giardini Mon Plaisir

I will start off with Giardini Mon Plaisir. This is just outside of the city centre and close to Casa Santa and close to the cable car that goes up to Erice.

It is a 19th-century renovated villa that is perfect for families. It has a large pool with umbrellas and also a huge garden to explore. As I said, it is near to Erice so you can take a day trip there.

It is also close to some historical sites, and they have free parking, last time I checked. They also have on-site cooking classes and a really nice aperitivo experience too.

Relais Antiche Saline hotel

Next up is Relais Antiche Saline hotel. This is actually down south of Trapani and right by the salt fields of Trapani.

What I like about this place is that it is a family property where you can get family rooms and triple rooms, but it only has 18 rooms in total, so it is very quiet.

They also have a really nice swimming pool and spa services so you can really relax as a family. If you want to go and see something special, the owners also own the Museum of Salt nearby. Or you can spend the day at the salt pans of Trapani. A really unique experience.

Sale e Sabbia

Heading back towards the city is Sale e Sabbia. This is just outside the city centre.

You get access to a swimming pool, an outdoor tennis court, and bikes to rent if you want to cycle around Trapani.

A lot of amenities for the family. The rooms are large and very modern, and you can also get access to cribs, but you will just have to ask for them beforehand.

Tips for booking Trapani Accommodation

So now I will go on to a few tips for booking Trapani accommodation. When you are looking where to stay in Trapani, I would recommend looking through at least 10 to 20 recent reviews. I do not really look at older ones anymore because a lot of these places get renovated.

I also recommend booking Trapani accommodation at least 6 months in advance. It is a smaller town but it is very popular. A lot of people like to stay for at least 2 to 3 days, and it can get quite busy in the summertime.

And I would also be mindful of the ZTL area. I have got a whole Trapani travel guide that talks you through the ZTL. If you are coming with a car, make sure to check that out because you will not be able to park in the city centre.
