The best hotels in Agrigento Sicily
When all was lost in Agrigento, it was actually amazing to see how many hotels in Agrigento there were. We decided to go to Agrigento on our latest trip around Sicily as we had heard so much about the Valley of the Temples.
Agrigento itself dates back to around 582 BC, and the Valley of the Temples is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so we couldn't miss it. However, if you were like us and had never been there before, finding the best hotels in Agrigento was top of my agenda.

How we select the best hotels in Agrigento
So I'll tell you a little bit about what we did initially. We actually spoke to a lot of our friends and family before we chose one of the hotels in Agrigento. We have family all over Italy, so that really helps getting that personal recommendation. We also had a look to see how far hotels were from the archaeological sites, the ocean, or the city itself.
We had a look at all the various different guest reviews and prioritised those with really good ratings. It might have been around their decor, their service, or some of the amenities. We love the hotels in Agrigento that had that rich historical heritage, but also quite modern. So that might have been historic buildings that were converted. We also like those that had really breathtaking views of the ancient ruins, or even the Mediterranean Ocean.
Luxury Hotels in Agrigento Sicily
So now I'll get into some of the best hotels in Agrigento. I'm going to start with the most luxurious options. Spacious rooms, lots of amenities, most of the places have really good bedding, marble bathrooms and technology. The service is also really great.
Villa Athena Resort
I'll start off with Villa Athena Resort, and this is where we stayed. Like I said, this is in the Valley of the temples, about a one-minute walk away. Villa Athena is a 5-star hotel in Agrigento, and there actually aren't that many because it is quite a small town.
What I loved about this place is that there was a brand new spa that we got to enjoy, and they also had restaurants. So as it was a little bit further away from town, they did have two really good restaurants and we had lunch and dinner there a couple of times. The restaurant is actually right in front of the temples, so you get a nice view.
You can also see, from the picture I took from my room, that a lot of the rooms have a view of the temples. This is just incredible, and it was so peaceful. I really enjoy my sleep myself, so very peaceful. They also have great amenities, including a pool, and we got to relax there under the umbrellas.
The standout features were probably the pool, as it was super hot when we went in September. I like cold pools, but you can just stand in the pool itself. And coming back to the views, there are quite a few different viewpoints you'll be able to get in this hotel. That was probably one of the best hotels in Agrigento that we've come across.

Hotel Exclusive
Next up is Hotel Exclusive. This is a hotel right in the centre of town. Although it's a little bit further away from the Valley of the Temples, you can still get views, just a little bit further away. Many of the rooms have balconies with views of the ocean or the Valley of the Temples. It's also a 4-star hotel in Agrigento.
What I also like about it is they have a few one or two bedroom apartments. You can see the picture of the room with the balcony. You really can feel that Sicilian vibe outside, and the rooms are very well furnished. Apart from that, it is close to Agrigento's train station, so you can go off to your next destination if you are taking the train.
However, if you are bringing your car, they don't have a car park, but there's parking only 50 metres away. Someone checked and it was €4 for the whole day, but that's probably gone up. Something to check if you do book.

Agrigento Hotels near the Ocean
Then you've got hotels in Agrigento near the ocean. I was very, very tempted to book a hotel here because I like the ocean. I love the views you can get as well. Some of the hotels below have amazing ocean views, and some also have terraces so you can take in the sea breeze. Here are my recommendations.
Hotel Costazzurra Museum & Spa
I'll start off with the Hotel Costa Azzurra Museum and Spa Hotel. This is a 4 star hotel in Agrigento. What's unique about this is that it actually houses the world's only hotel archaeological collection, and the rooms are decorated with ancient artwork dating back over 2500 years. So quite special and unique.
It's very close to San Leone Beach, so you do get that traditional Sicilian vibe. Close by, is an 18-hole golf course, so if you enjoy golf, it's a great place to relax. And the spa itself, you can get facials, aromatherapy and massages. I just love a hotel that has on-site spa facilities. I love having a massage after a long day of doing touristy things.
Apart from that, they also have an outdoor pool with umbrellas if you don't want to go down to San Leone Beach. And last time I checked, they had free self-parking. In terms of the rooms, they are quite traditional and have good air conditioning. And I don't know if they still have it, but some of the rooms even had a bicycle and some barbells inside, which was pretty unique.

Baia di Ulisse Wellness & SPA
Next stop is the Baia di Ulisse Wellness and Spa. This is a four star luxury hotel in Agrigento. What I love about this hotel is that it has its own private beach, but it also has a pool. The poolside terrace actually overlooks the ocean.
In terms of the rooms, there are 92 rooms. Most of them have terraces that either have sea views or garden views. You'll also be able to pick single rooms, family rooms, and the whole hotel and the bedrooms are just very well kept and large in size.

Hotel Riviera Palace
If you're looking for another hotel in Agrigento by the ocean, you've got the Riviera Palace Hotel. That is on the seafront in Porto Empedocle, and it's very close to the Scala dei Turchi. It has a pool there, but it's also only 20 metres away from the actual beach itself.
What most people love about this hotel is it only has 31 rooms, but most of them all have ocean views. Because you're so close, it's really nice to be part of.
In terms of the bathrooms, many of them have rainfall showers, and the beds are known to be really, really comfy. So a great hotel in Agrigento by the ocean. For more coastal options across Sicily, we also cover plenty of other spots.

Boutique Hotels in Agrigento Sicily
So now I'm going to get onto boutique hotels in Agrigento. Sometimes you just want that extra little bit of service. Boutique hotels are usually smaller, but they usually have a unique personality that reflects the area. Most of the time, the staff are usually very attentive and get to know your name. Here are some of my recommendations.
Doric Boutique Hotel
Going back to the Valley of the Temples, you've got a 4 star Agrigento option, and that is the Doric Boutique Hotel. It's also eco-friendly. What I love about this hotel is they've got a lot of amenities such as a full-service spa, a pool, a gym and also a playground for the kids. Last time I checked, the parking is free.
So most of the time, if you stay by the Valley of the Temples, you'll need a car, so important to note that. The Doric Boutique Hotel only has 28 rooms. And if you want to spend a little bit extra, book yourself a deluxe room because they have private heated pools, and they have awesome views of the temple.
What I love about this is that the pool is just so nice, and you can really relax. You can't really see it in the picture, but right in the centre of the pool is a bar with some seats, which I love. So you can get yourself a cocktail while you're on holiday.
In terms of the rooms, aside from the deluxe, they are very spacious in general and have air conditioning and are modern. So if you're after that modern touch, this is a great hotel to book.

Hotel Villa Romana
Going back to the ocean, very close to the Scala dei Turchi, is the Hotel Villa Romana. This is a brand new 4 star hotel in Agrigento. The rooms are very large and most have a terrace with ocean views.
You can see in my picture some of the terraces. They're very spacious, so you can just come home after a day out on the beach and just relax and take in the sun.
They also have an outdoor pool. If you do need to go to the beach, they have their own private beach area with umbrellas and sunbeds, and they have a beachfront restaurant. So you don't really have to leave the hotel for this one, unless you want to check out things to do in Agrigento.

Baglio Della Luna
Next stop, if you're looking for something really traditional with that classic Sicilian touch, you've got the Baglio della Luna. This is a 4 star boutique hotel in Agrigento. It was built in the 13th century and then restored in the 16th century.
What I love about this is that it's very traditional. So if you're looking for modern, this isn't for you, but if you're looking for a nice classic big room and comfy bed, this is what you're going to like.
A lot of the rooms also have a balcony, and you can get some really nice views of Agrigento. You have everything you need, a nice, large room with that kind of green Sicilian colour.
But I think the standout for this one is the staff. Sometimes you forget that when you're booking a hotel in Agrigento. The actual service from the staff is super friendly and really helpful. It's also very close to the Valley of the Temples, but you'll obviously have to take a car or taxi.
If you have a car, they have free parking. Something unique that I love is they actually have a watch tower, and if you go up to the top, they have a 360 degree view of Agrigento.

Family Friendly Hotels
Next up, I wanted to talk a little bit about family-friendly hotels. If you're travelling with young kids, I think it's even more important to do your research. When I was looking at these and speaking to my family, what I was looking out for was kids clubs, restaurants on site, a pool and access to cribs. Here are some recommendations.
Colleverde Park Hotel
If you're staying near town, there's the Colleverde Park Hotel
and this is a 4 star family friendly hotel in Agrigento. It's very close to the Valley of the Temples. There are only 48 rooms, so I'd probably book early for this one.
What you get for families is cribs and also babysitting services, and that's quite hard to find at some of the hotels. So that's probably one of the standout features.
The rooms are really nice as well. What I also liked about this is they have dry cleaning services, so if you need to get washing done, this is what I'll also look for in a family hotel in Agrigento.
And then for dinner, if you don't want to stay out too late, they have a very large restaurant where you can get traditional Sicilian food. If you want to get into town, it's only a few minutes away. Or if you want to get out to the ocean, it's probably about a 15 minute drive.
Find out more information and check the prices for Colleverde Park Hotel.

Hotel Dioscuri Bay Palace
Next up, I picked this one because it was very close to the ocean, and that is the Dioscuri Bay Palace Hotel. This is in the town of San Leone.
What you'll get from this is cribs for the family, but they also have a semi-Olympic swimming pool. So if you want to swim with the kids in the hotel, you can go there, or they have sun lounges, so you can relax with the children.
Or because they're in the town of San Leone, you can go to the beach. Apart from that, the Dioscuri Bay Palace Hotel is very close to all the restaurants in San Leone. It's quite an affordable area too. If you bring your car, they have fenced parking, which is also free, last time I checked.

Budget-Friendly Agrigento Hotels
Now I want to talk a little bit about more affordable hotels in Agrigento. Sometimes the 5-star hotels in Agrigento are super, super expensive, especially in July. So you might want to go for a lower-cost hotel. I did a lot of research into these and actually got a few recommendations from family on this one.
Most of the places I'll tell you about have all the basics like Wi-Fi, private bathrooms, and I'll let you know if I find any others. A lot of these also have a complimentary breakfast to save you some money. For more tips on managing your budget, check out our guide on how to save money on a trip.
Hotel Della Valle
I think one of the best hotels in Agrigento for your wallet is the Hotel della Valle. This is actually a 4 star hotel, very close to the Valley of the Temples. They have a pool and also an on-site spa.
And the rooms, as you can see in the picture, are very modern, large and just very well priced. They also have parking included in the price.
If you need to get around and don't have a car, the station is about a 15-minute walk away, so just take that into consideration. They also have a restaurant on site or you can walk into town.
Find out more information and check the prices for Hotel Del Valle.

Hotel Dei Pini
Another really good and well-priced place is the Hotel dei Pini. This is a 4 star hotel halfway between Porto Empedocle Beach and the Valley of the Temples.
The standout feature, as you can see in my picture, is the outdoor pool, so you can just relax there. But they also have a tennis court as well, so you can get some fitness in when you're on holiday.
The rooms are very large, and you can get singles and doubles. They all have air conditioning and a safe for your valuables.
Find out more information and check the prices of Hotel Dei Pini.

Hotel Del Viale
Next stop, and this is probably a little bit lower in cost, is the Hotel del Viale. This is a 3 star hotel in Agrigento in the city centre, and it has quite a lot going for it.
The rooms are traditional but they do the job, they're large, they have free Wi-Fi and also air conditioning. Some also have a safe.
What I also liked is free parking for the car and they have bike rentals so you can just get around town. And for breakfast, they have a really big Sicilian breakfast that you can get.
