The 15 Best Hotels in Cefalu Sicily
Cefalù is one of my favourite beach towns in Sicily. Honestly, out of all the towns in Italy, Cefalù ranks really high for me. What I love about it is you have a lot of history there. Not as much as Taormina or Agrigento, but enough. So when it came to finding the best hotels in Cefalù, it was actually fairly easy. I'll tell you more about this as we go.

How we select the best hotels in Cefalu Sicily
We speak Italian, and we have an Italian family down in the south of Italy. So getting recommendations on some of the best hotels in Cefalù, Sicily was quite easy. As I mentioned, it has a lot of history. So we were looking at hotels that had a lot of history to them but had been modernised.
Having the beach close by also added to the experience of staying in some of the cefalu hotels. Some of the hotels in Cefalù that had really nice views of the ocean came as a definite plus. But also views of some of the architecture around. Because it is a smaller town, a lot of the hotels in Cefalù had really great service.
When to Visit Cefalu
Best times to visit
Before I get into some of the best hotels in Cefalù, I'll talk a little bit about when to actually visit. I've been here in high season during July, and I've also been here in September. I'd probably recommend going in September or October, or April and May, because these are the shoulder seasons.
July was just so busy and it was actually hard to find a hotel in Cefalù that wasn't booked out. The sun wasn't as hot either. In April and May, temperatures are between 20 and 24 degrees.
September was about 28 degrees, so still warm but heading towards off-peak.
Temperature in Cefalu
- April: Average high of 20°C.
- May: Average high of 24°C.
- June: Average high of 28°C.
- July: Average high of 31°C.
- August: Average high of 31°C.
- September: Average high of 28°C.
- October: Average high of 24°C.
I loved going to Cefalù in September because it was hot, the prices came down a little bit, and it was less busy. Having one of the best beaches in Sicily, you could actually find a spot.
Luxury hotels in Cefalu Sicily
I'm going to start off with some of the luxury hotels in Cefalù, Sicily. What I found is that there were a lot of spacious rooms. The bedding was also really fantastic. And you see a lot of marble bathrooms that you don't get in some of the other top hotels in the area. Amenities like technology, pools, and spas were also a big part of it.
The Cefalu Sea Palace
Number one has got to be the Cefalù Sea Palace, and this is a 5 star hotel in Cefalù. It's very close to the Lungomare Cefalù beach, so you can just pop down there.
They have a private beach with free sun lounges, so you don't need to bring beach towels or anything. If you don't want to go to the beach, you can also use their pool. It's a really nice pool.
Almost every single room has ocean views and they're very modern. Some rooms even have a jacuzzi, which is pretty cool. I'd personally pick this one for the views. It's a little bit away from town so it's a little bit quieter.
To put it into perspective, it's about a 15 minute walk from the Cefalù Cathedral. On top of that, they have a roof garden and a restaurant, which is really nice. You can have an aperitivo at the end of the evening, plus they've got panoramic views of the ocean and the town.

Le Calette Bay
This is probably one of the best hotels in Cefalù for luxury. It's on the quieter side, on the right-hand side of Cefalù, a little bit further away from town, but extremely quiet.
They have their own really sandy beach, plus beachfront dining. I'd say Le Calette Bay is a lot more modern than the Cefalù Sea Palace. They also have a pool with a poolside bar and extra amenities like a spa.
Now, the thing with Le Calette is they only have 24 rooms, so it's quite an intimate hotel. You may want to book this one in advance. Apart from that, they also have tennis courts, a health club, and babysitting services if you're bringing the family.

Hotel La Plumeria
This is a four star hotel in Cefalù and it's actually in the city, so very close to all the things to do in Cefalù and around all the boutique shops.
It's a little bit more traditional, but the rooms are very, very large. If you can, I'd probably book one with a terrace because you get really nice views. The junior suite has a panoramic view of the city. So a very convenient and well-priced hotel in Cefalù.

Hotel Baia Del Capitano
Now, if you're looking for more of a quieter coastal retreat in Cefalù, you've got Hotel Baia del Capitano. It's a little bit on the west of Cefalù, outside of town, so you'll probably need a car or take a taxi into town.
But this really is a luxury hotel in Cefalù. They have access to a private beach, which they can take you down to in a shuttle. They also have a really nice pool. It's on the quieter side of Cefalù.
What I love about it is they have their own restaurant, massage services, and if you want to keep fit, they have a tennis court. In terms of the rooms, they're very well renovated and very traditional. What I felt is they really make you feel at home. I'd book at least the classic room, and a lot of them come with really nice views.

Artemis Hotel
Another one that's made it onto the list of the best hotels in Cefalù is the Artemis Hotel. Again, this is another hotel that's very conveniently located.
It's near the train station, the promenade, and also the Duomo, so very well located. It's a 4-star hotel that has really good service, and the reception is 24/7. I like the building from the outside. It's got that orangey finish.
The rooms inside are very large and come with a TV. Again, a very traditional Sicilian experience.

Boutique Hotels In Cefalu Sicily
Now I want to get onto some of the boutique hotels in Cefalù. A lot of these will be very luxurious, but they're usually smaller, so you get a much greater experience. I love it when they know my name before I arrive. Don't know how they do that. They must search me on Instagram. And they also have just those little touches that I love.
Le Calette n.5
I'll start off with Le Calette No.5, and this is another 5-star hotel in Cefalù. This place only has 30 rooms, and it's very luxurious. They have their own swimming pool, a gym, and this amazing rooftop terrace.
It's on the east-hand side of Cefalù so you'll probably need a car or a taxi to get in. Le Calette No.5 has actually made it as a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
It can get a bit pricey, so I'd probably start off at either a classic or superior room depending on your budget. Very modern inside, but with little touches like goose down and hypoallergenic pillows. Very white, very clean.
Find out more information and check the prices for Le Calette n.5.

Astro Suite Hotel
This is actually right next to the main beach in Cefalù. It's a four star hotel, and it only has 22 rooms. I would say it's a little bit less in price, so it tends to get booked out quite easily.
It's very close to the beach, but if you want to stay at the hotel they have this awesome pool. In the photo you can actually see the rock of Cefalù on the right-hand side, so you can just relax and read a book on the lounges there.
Another great thing I liked is if you're bringing the car, they have free parking. Getting parking in Cefalù is a bit of a nightmare. You can read more in my Cefalù travel guide.
Apart from that, they also have a gym. In terms of the rooms, some have views of the ocean and they're very cool inside. They go with a lot of blue on the walls and on the drapes. A really nice boutique hotel in Cefalù.

Insulae Resort
Next up is the Insulae Resort. This is on the west side of Cefalù. I think the further you get outside of Cefalù's main town, the larger the properties get.
So although it is a boutique hotel in Cefalù, they have gardens that are over 4,500 square metres. You really get a relaxing atmosphere on this one.
They also have their own fine dining restaurant and the pool comes with a bar. It's actually a 120 square metre infinity pool. In terms of the rooms, it only has 18.
But what else made it onto this list of the best hotels in Cefalù? It has a modern pickleball court, a fitness area, and yoga classes in the garden, which is really nice to be part of.
View the prices & more info at Insulae Resort.

Ossuna bay hotel boutique
Just going back to the centre of Cefalù, you've got the Ossuna Bay Hotel Boutique. This is a fairly new hotel in Cefalù and very close to the cathedral, about a 3-minute walk. Also close to the beach.
In terms of the rooms, very white and very spacious, so you can bring all your luggage. Nice quiet air conditioning. I'd probably recommend the deluxe double room because it has ocean views with a terrace.
The staff there are also very friendly and can help with laundry services, which is a plus when going around Sicily. And they have free parking, last time I checked.

Best hotels in Cefalù for families
Now I'm going to get onto some of the best hotels in Cefalù when travelling with a family. Sometimes you just forget about all the little things that make a family hotel great, such as babysitting, cribs, and amenities like pools and restaurants. So I'll talk you through the hotels in Cefalù for families.
Victoria Palace Cefalù
This is actually owned by the same owners as the Cefalù Sea Palace that I talked about a little bit earlier. The beach is very close by, so you can just walk over with the family.
If you're bringing a car, there's free parking, which is really convenient. You don't want to be driving around far away with a family. I found that annoying last time I was in Cefalù.
If you don't want to be by the beach, they have an outdoor swimming pool so you can just relax there during the day. Some little things that made it family-friendly: it's a smoke-free hotel, and all the rooms have air conditioning and satellite TV.
It's right on the beach, and to get into the old town it's about a 10-minute walk. You can go on the promenade, which I love doing. I love going up and down that promenade.
Find out more information and check the prices for Victoria Palace Cefalù.

Hotel Kalura
This is one of the best hotels in Cefalù for families. The reason I say that is they've got free parking and babysitting.
But there are other little things, such as an elevator, so you don't have to go up the stairs. That's actually quite hard to find in Cefalù.
If you have older kids, they have bike rentals, and you can also ask them for a baby seat for your bike. Or there's a tennis court, so you can play some tennis with the family.
And lastly, they have their own pool. In terms of the rooms, very large, very modern as you can see in the photo on the right.
Find out more information and check the prices for Hotel Kalura.

Hotel Alberi del Paradiso
This is a little bit further away from the main town but they have their own reserved beach area at Kalura Beach. They will actually shuttle you down to their private beach area, which I found very convenient.
In terms of the amenities, they have their own swimming pool, tennis, and if you want a massage, they have their own spa with deep tissue massages, body treatments, and more.
If you don't want to go into town, they also have their own restaurant with really nice views of the garden, so you can dine alfresco. In terms of the rooms, very well kept, and they have single rooms, triple rooms, and also suites.

Budget-Friendly Hotels In Cefalu Sicily
Sometimes when I'm touring around Sicily, I might stay at luxury hotels in Cefalù for a few nights, but then I might move to a lower-cost one to manage my wallet as I'm going around. So when I look for these, I was looking at service, convenience, and just making sure it did the job. Quiet, nice to stay at, and good value.
Villa Gaia Hotel
Last time I checked, under €100 a night. That's a steal in Cefalù. They have their own pool, so you can relax there. Or they have a hot tub, which is great for an evening dip.
In terms of the rooms, a little bit more traditional, but they come with everything. Air conditioning, a 32-inch TV, and rainforest showers. They only have 12 rooms, though, and it's quite a quiet place. They do get booked out quite early. A great hotel in Cefalù, Sicily.

Hotel La Giara
This is right in the centre of town. It's a really nice, friendly hotel that was recently renovated.
What I liked about this, and you don't find in every hotel, is the rooms are sound-insulated. I've stayed at hotels where you can hear absolutely everything. This is a real plus for Hotel La Giara.
In terms of the rooms, they're very traditional but come with all the basics like air conditioning. In terms of the amenities, they have a rooftop terrace with a bar. Really nice to have a cocktail or a aperitivo in the evening.
What I love about Hotel La Giara is family run, so it has really good service. They want to keep you coming back. One of the best hotels in Cefalù for value.

Mediterraneo Hotel
The thing that really stands out to me about this hotel is the room sizes. Look at it. You could probably fit another two beds in there. It's huge. Traditional Sicilian, but with air conditioning and Wi-Fi.
You've also got free parking with the Mediterraneo Hotel, which is very convenient. If you're staying with friends or family, they have doubles, triples, and even quadruple rooms. Great for a family stay too.
In terms of service, the staff are super friendly. They can help book things to do in Cefalù and some of them are multilingual, which really helps when coming from abroad.
